Pick purpose, not passion
Colorado Springs Independent
I wanted to be a journalist from about the time I was 11.
Roger Lewis's insight:
I like this thought. Purpose over passion. The one is sustainable, the other may not be. And yet, strange or perhaps not so strange, those things that have become the focus of our determined and steady purpose, can often be transmuted by some strange alchemy into a passion as well. So, buy into the purpose ideal, and be a little cautious about building an entire career on what you believed was your passion. Purposeful work may yet lead you to your own raison d'etre!
